i am knitting and knitting and knitting ferociously, for the Ukrainian military. It feels a little bit like running a marathon while being uncertain at how i ended up participating in it. One finished project somehow sprouts into a few more, very much hydra-like. But some things do get finished and at least this project is done – a proud total of eight hats:

the last two subprojects are two Lean On Me hats and two Stepping Stone Cap hats. Both are free patterns found on ravelry. Both of them use a completely different yarns, with a completely different gauge, but both are very easy to adjust to any kind of yarn and any gauge.

here is my version of Lean on me:

the yarn is Brunswick Pomfret mark II, which a 4-ply sport weight yarn, 100% virgin wool, 57 g x 170 m. The hats are knit with 3 mm needles, and the gauge is 51.5 st. in 20 cm. I love the nice clean folding of the brim (1 round of purling).

the Stepping stones look like this:

i was not sure whether i would have enough yarn, so i have added a wide stripe knitted from Plymouth Yarn Suri Merino (55% suri alpaca, 45% extra fine merino wool, 110 yards in 50 g, color #687).

i am very happy with all of these hats. On to the socks to add to these hats!
